Abstract

Background
Recruitment and retention have been identified as contributing factors to workforce shortages in the veterinary team.
Methods
In this second part of a project exploring recruitment and retention in veterinary professions, results from veterinary nurses from an online questionnaire, distributed in 2018 were analysed. Factors contributing to leaving/staying in current employment and the profession were investigated.
Results
Veterinary nurses had few job changes (median 2), however, 53.8% (n=1060) reported that they were likely or very likely to leave their employment within two years. Respondents who were recently qualified (P
